Kai Newman gave up the fewest hits he has since back in April on Saturday. Kokomo had no answer to Newman as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Newman has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

Newman's strong effort led Lapel over Kokomo and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
