Softball Recap: Temecula Prep Takes a Loss

After flying high against Redlands Adventist Academy on Monday, Temecula Prep came back down to earth. The Patriots lost 20-9 to the Santa Rosa Academy Rangers on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-9 two weeks ago.

Kori Dawson and Samiyah Antoine stepped up to the plate in a big way. Dawson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Antoine went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Dawson is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylie Parrino, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Temecula Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. As for Santa Rosa Academy, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coincidentally, Temecula Prep and Santa Rosa Academy will both be playing Hamilton the next time they take the field. The Patriots will host the Bobcats at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Rangers will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on May 2.
