Basketball Game Preview: Scott Central Rebels vs. Clarkdale Bulldogs

Scott Central is a perfect 6-0 against Clarkdale since January of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Rebels are taking a road trip to square off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Scott Central will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

While Scott Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They breezed past Union to the tune of 43-8 last Thursday.

Scott Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Virtasia Shepard led the charge by putting up six points and three steals. Shepard has also also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: she's posted one of at least 50% every time she's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Jones, who posted six points and seven boards.

Scott Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Clarkdale lost to Noxapater on the road by a 41-25 margin on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Scott Central's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Clarkdale, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Everything came up roses for Scott Central against Clarkdale in their previous matchup back in February, as the squad secured a 51-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
