Baseball Game Preview: Nottoway Cougars vs. Lunenburg Central Chargers

Nottoway hasn't had much luck against Lunenburg Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cougars will square off against the Chargers at 5:00 p.m. Nottoway has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Nottoway came up short against Buckingham on Tuesday, falling 22-3.

Nottoway saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Simmons, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. Simmons has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Meanwhile, Lunenburg Central came up short against Randolph-Henry on Tuesday and fell 7-3. The Chargers have struggled against the Statesmen recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lunenburg Central fell to 3-1. As for Nottoway, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Nottoway suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Lunenburg Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
