Volleyball Recap: Nevaeh Evans Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Lackawanna Trail

Valley View extended their home winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Layla Marino. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Lackawanna Trail Lions on Wednesday thanks in part to Marino, who had ten digs, nine kills, and three aces. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 kills per game.

Valley View not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Lackawanna Trail between 17 and 19 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-19, 25-17.

Valley View's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nevaeh Evans, who had four digs, four aces, and one block. Evans has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Monica Orellana, who had 17 digs.

They weren't the only good servers: Valley View was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive contests.

Valley View's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Lackawanna Trail, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.
