Baseball Recap: Glenville Comes Up Short

Glenville had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-7 to make it four. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cleveland Central Catholic Ironmen. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tarblooders of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Javion Davenport made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Daniel Hart was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

As for Cleveland Central Catholic, they moved to 3-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

On Cleveland Central Catholic's side, Brandyn Love was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Love is becoming a predictor of the Ironmen's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 1-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Emmanuel Heard, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glenville will head out to take on Max S. Hayes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lakers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something the Tarblooders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cleveland Central Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Brooklyn at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
