Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but New Oxford ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Eastern York 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Colonials have posted since April 29, 2024.
Miranda Leatherman spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Aralyn Smith and Payton Hostetter did most of the damage at the plate: Smith scored two runs while going 1-for-4, while Hostetter scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Smith also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bailey Moser, who went 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI.

New Oxford has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Spring Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Spring Grove's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Rockets have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for New Oxford, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Spring Grove continue to outrun the ball?
