Basketball Game Preview: Hallsville Bobcats vs. Lufkin Panthers

Hallsville hasn't had much luck against Lufkin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Hallsville Bobcats take on the Lufkin Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Hallsville lost to Jacksonville at home by a 58-41 margin. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 903rd, while the Fightin' Indians are ranked 106th).

Meanwhile, Lufkin had to suffer through a 71-22 loss at the hands of Tyler. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Lufkin has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season. As for Hallsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-22.

Hallsville was dealt a bruising 49-15 loss at the hands of Lufkin in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Hallsville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
