22. Wichita Heights (Wichita, Kan.)
Head coach: Joe Auer
2009-2010 record: 23-2, Kansas Class 6A state champions
Key returnees: E.J. Dobbins (5-8, 160, Sr., G),
Perry Ellis (6-8, 220, Jr., F), Terrence Moore (6-1, 165, Jr., G), Dreamius Smith (6-0, 200, Sr., G),
Evan Wessel (6-4, 190, Sr., G)
Scouting Report: Since Ellis arrived on campus, Wichita Heights is 47-3 with two state titles. The star junior forward and four other key contributors are back and a third crown is the expectation this winter.
Ellis (22.2 points per game as a sophomore) will be joined by fellow returning double-digit scorers Wessel (12.4), Moore (11.1) and Smith (10.0). That foursome plus Dobbins combined to score 64.3 of the Falcons' 66.8 points per game in 2009-10.
The only knock on Wichita Heights is the lack of a nationally-recognized opponent on the schedule. That won't change this winter so media and fans will have to continue speculating how Ellis and Co. would match up beyond Kansas. The Falcons carry a 19-game winning streak into the season.
