Softball Game Preview: Tahanto Regional Stags vs. Maynard Tigers

The Tahanto Regional Stags will face off against the Maynard Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Tahanto Regional was able to grind out a solid win over Gardner, taking the game 7-4. The victory continues a trend for the Stags in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won nine in a row.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Maynard ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Hopedale 5-4. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Jillian Macfarlane made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ryleigh Raschi was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Maynard pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Tahanto Regional, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
