Recap: Calvary Christian Knights vs. Wiregrass Kings
The Calvary Christian Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Wiregrass, falling 64-34. Calvary Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wiregrass apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2015.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Phoenix Griffeth, who scored 10 points. Tj Benson was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 3 steals.
Among those leading the charge was Christian Miller, who scored 29 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Wiregrass' points. Another player making a difference was Luke Strickland, who scored 16 points.
Calvary Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Wiregrass, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Calvary Christian will be playing at home against Springwood at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Springwood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Calvary Christian likes a good challenge. As for Wiregrass, they will head out on the road to face off against Byne Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
