Softball Game Preview: Springdale Bulldogs vs. Valley Springs Tigers

The Springdale Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Valley Springs Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Springdale has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bentonville West hit Springdale with a eight-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs came up short against the Wolverines, falling 14-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Valley Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Yellville-Summit.

Valley Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Springdale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Springdale beat Valley Springs 6-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
