Baseball Recap: Sayre Wins High-Profile Match Against Woodford County

Sayre faced Woodford County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Spartans came out on top against the Yellowjackets by a score of 7-4. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Elliott Jansky tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sayre's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brody Beall, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Beall a new career-high.

Sayre's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-3. As for Woodford County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8.

Looking ahead, Sayre will venture away from home to face off against Bryan Station at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woodford County, they will host Shelby County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
