Basketball Recap: Southern Lee Comes Up Short

Southern Lee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 74-18 loss at the hands of the Union Pines Vikings. The Cavaliers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-15.

Ashanti Fox continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Union Pines, going 15-for-23 to rack up 41 points and five steals. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Fox has scored at least a third of Union Pines' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Maheu, who posted eight points.

Southern Lee's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Union Pines, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 21-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern Lee will host Lee County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Lee is facing Lee County at the right time seeing as Lee County is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Union Pines, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pinecrest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Union Pines is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.6 points per game this season.
