Volleyball Recap: Riverdale Comes Up Short

If Riverdale was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Lehigh on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Raiders came up short against the Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons on Thursday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

While Riverdale was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-22, 25-14.

Olivia Znotens paced Riverdale's offense, picking up ten kills. Znotens got some help from Piper Higginbotham and her 22 assists. Finally, Emma Yancey and Meghan Tilney kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked two attacks.

Riverdale's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Charlotte, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverdale will take on Gateway at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, Charlotte and Lemon Bay will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
