Preview: Walnut Ridge Scots vs. Stivers School for the Arts Tigers
The Walnut Ridge Scots will be playing at home against the Stivers School for the Arts Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Walnut Ridge pushed their score all the way to 62 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Lutheran East 68-62.
Despite the defeat, Walnut Ridge had strong showings from Marquis Lucas, who scored 21 points, and Dominique Aekins, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Deon Johnson, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Stivers School for the Arts lost to Dunbar on the road by a decisive 64-45 margin on Tuesday. Stivers School for the Arts has not had much luck with Dunbar recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Walnut Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Stivers School for the Arts, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
