Baseball Game Preview: Fivay Falcons vs. Gulf Buccaneers

The Fivay Falcons will face off against the Gulf Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Fivay is looking for their season's first win.

Fivay fell victim to Anclote and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 21-0 to the Sharks.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gulf, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Gibbs a 15-0 shutout on Friday. With that victory, the Buccaneers brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Jaidon Sopjack made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. He has become a key player for Gulf: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 2-5 otherwise. Sopjack was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Jared White and Diego Cruz did most of the damage at the plate: White scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Cruz scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, White posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Josh Wilcoxson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Fivay's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Gulf, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
