Fossil Ridge found their leader in sophomore Addilyn Sandstedt, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. Sandstedt also set a new season-high mark in field goal percentage with 46%. Maddie Kubat was another key player, putting up eight points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Fossil Ridge was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Meanwhile, Chaparral's game on Tuesday was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Green Mountain. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Rams are ranked sixth).
Fossil Ridge will have to contain Maddie Jenkins as she made an impact in Chaparral's last game. She shot 56% from the field to rack up 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Thompson, who posted eight points in addition to nine boards and six assists.
The win made it two in a row for Fossil Ridge and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points over those games. As for Chaparral, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Fossil Ridge has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Chaparral struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 29.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Fossil Ridge was able to grind out a solid win over Chaparral in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 44-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for the SaberCats since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
