Recap: South Johnston Trojans vs. Hunt Warriors

The South Johnston Trojans lost against the Hunt Warriors back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. South Johnston took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hunt. While losing is never fun, South Johnston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 493rd, while Hunt is ranked 225th).

Hunt's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Na'sir Hines, who scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that Hines scored 15 or more points. Drew Pittman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

South Johnston's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Hunt, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Johnston will take on East Wake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Wake is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Hunt, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome West Johnston at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. West Johnston knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Hunt likes a good challenge.
