Basketball Recap: Peekskill Takes a Loss

Peekskill scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to the Yonkers Bulldogs. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Peekskill's loss came despite strong showings from Amari Murphy and Jealina Searight. Murphy almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds, while Searight posted ten points in addition to seven boards and five steals. That was a full 48.8% of Peekskill's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Peekskill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Peekskill's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Peekskill is taking a road trip to face off against Montfort Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Yonkers, they will host Peekskill at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
