Softball Recap: Westview Gets the Win

While Westview's win against University School of Jackson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Westview came out on top in a nail-biter against University School of Jackson on Monday, sneaking past 7-6. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Chargers also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2023.

Westview let Lakyn Rogers and Mary (Maddie) Gray run wild. Rogers went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Gray went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Rogers hit this season. Another player making a difference was Annelise Hayden, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for Westview and bumps their season record up to 4-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for University School of Jackson, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3-1.

Looking ahead, Westview will challenge Peabody at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give Westview their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for University School of Jackson, they will take on Gibson County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
