Baseball Game Preview: Red River Bulldogs vs. Ebarb Rebels

The Red River Bulldogs will face off against the Ebarb Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Red River: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Ebarb has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.

Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Red River turned things around against Choudrant on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Aggies.

John Dickey made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Red River is 2-1 when Dickey posts eight or more strikeouts, but 13-14-1 otherwise. Dickey was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Dickey wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Eli Murphy, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Ebarb never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Pleasant Hill with a sharp 14-0 win. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Ebarb has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Red River, the win got them back to even at 15-15-1.

Red River took their victory against Ebarb when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
