Baseball Game Preview: Lovejoy Leopards vs. Anna Coyotes

Lovejoy is a perfect 3-0 against Anna since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lovejoy Leopards are taking a road trip to face off against the Anna Coyotes at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lovejoy has three straight victories, Anna has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lovejoy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Anna a 14-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Leopards have won four games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Logan Corley made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Reese Ogden was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Braden Smith also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Lovejoy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.

Lovejoy's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Anna, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
