Softball Recap: Holly Comes Up Short

Holly extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-3 in the process. They lost 13-3 to the Linden Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Bronchos have lost by exactly ten runs.

Molly Charboneau (SVSU) was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

As for Linden, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Linden's side, Kayla Widner (2025) was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Widner (2025) has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Morgan Piotrovsky (2025) was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. Sophia Helm (2025) was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three runs.

While Holly had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
