Softball Game Preview: Burr Oak Bobcats vs. Climax-Scotts Panthers

For the first time this season, Burr Oak will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Climax-Scotts Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Burr Oak's offense. They came up short against Mendon on Thursday, falling 6-0. The Bobcats have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Climax-Scotts had taken Mendon down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Panthers lost 18-3 to the Hornets. The loss was the Panthers' first of the season.

Climax-Scotts saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addi Dzwik, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Natalie Smith also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Burr Oak now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Climax-Scotts, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Burr Oak took their victory against Climax-Scotts in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-5 score. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
