Softball Recap: Cedaredge Bruins vs. Durango Demons
After flying high against Basalt last Saturday, Cedaredge came back down to earth. The Cedaredge Bruins fell just short of the Durango Demons by a score of 9-8 on Friday.
Tia Homedew stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 4-for-4 with three runs, a triple, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Meri Hollembeak, who went 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.
Even though they lost, Cedaredge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in September of 2023.
Cedaredge's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Durango, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cedaredge will venture away from home to face off against Delta at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Delta is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Durango, they will take on Grand Junction at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
