Basketball Recap: Ava Gibson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Redeemer Christian over First Christian

Redeemer Christian came up into this matchup off a tough 23-point defeat last Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the First Christian Lions by a score of 45-42 on Friday. Redeemer Christian lost against First Christian in their previous head to head back in January of 2020, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 56-25 score last time.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Gibson, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Laramie Butler, who earned 11 points.

First Christian found their leader in sophomore Reagan Davis, who dropped a triple-double on 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 steals. Davis' evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Adrianna Graham was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Redeemer Christian and nudges their season record down to 8-8. As for First Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Redeemer Christian has already played their next contest (against Countryside Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. First Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 40-36 loss against Open Bible Christian on the 3rd.
