Football Game Preview: Valhalla Norsemen vs. Monte Vista Monarchs + How To Watch

The Valhalla Norsemen will venture away from home to square off against the Monte Vista Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monte Vista took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Valhalla, who comes in off a win.

Valhalla's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past El Cajon Valley to the tune of 38-0. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Norsemen's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Liam Hypes had a dynamite game, rushing for 177 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also picking up 47 receiving yards. Jackson Newman was another key player, rushing for 120 yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Valhalla was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 351 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Monte Vista's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 14-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Santana. The defeat continues a trend for the Monarchs in their meetings with the Sultans: they've now lost four in a row.

Valhalla's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6. As for Monte Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Valhalla ended up a good deal behind Monte Vista in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, losing 38-21. Can the Norsemen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
