Albany has gone 4-0 against Pinole Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Albany Cougars will take on the Pinole Valley Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Albany's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over Saint Mary's. The result kept the Cougars happy, as they haven't lost a game yet this season.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Tommaso Liberati, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, Pinole Valley and Salesian College Preparatory finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

Albany's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-0-2 and their overall record up to 4-0-2. Pinole Valley's draw gives them a new season record of 3-4-2.

Everything went Albany's way against Pinole Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2021, as Albany made off with a 6-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Albany since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
