Softball Recap: Briarcrest Christian's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Briarcrest Christian had to endure a six-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Whitehaven Tigers on Tuesday by a score of 15-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Saints' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last four games.

Ellen Adair was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Blake Harris was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Grace Gleason was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Briarcrest Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Briarcrest Christian's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Whitehaven, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Briarcrest Christian will host St. Benedict at Auburndale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Benedict at Auburndale will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Briarcrest Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Whitehaven, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against White Station at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
