Baseball Recap: Herron Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Herron took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Indy Genesis HomeSchool, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Achaeans won by a run and slipped past the Indy Genesis 11-10. The high-scoring effort was just what the Achaeans needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Abraham Cherry and Richard Morris made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Cherry pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Morris pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cherry has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Cherry went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Morris went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Morris has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Luke Cherry was excellent, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Elon Sharp, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Herron is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Indy Genesis HomeSchool, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Herron will face off against Indianapolis Scecina Memorial at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The last three games the Crusaders have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Indy Genesis HomeSchool, they will venture away from home to square off against Bethesda Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Indy Genesis' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
