Baseball Recap: Trinity Christian Comes Up Short

Trinity Christian extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-8 in the process. They came up short against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, falling 9-0. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Fighting Irish since on Wednesday.

Trinity Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Fulk, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Notre Dame, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-4. The game was the first time they have beaten Trinity Christian on their field since April 28, 2022.

On Notre Dame's side, Dominick Bombardiere made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave Bombardiere a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Notre Dame: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Britain Hill was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Trinity Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-6 win against Greenbrier West on the 17th. Notre Dame has also already played their next game (against Pendleton County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
