Basketball Recap: Gramercy Christian Takes a Loss

Gramercy Christian lost against Trinity Christian back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Gramercy Christian Warriors had to suffer through a 63-35 loss at the hands of the Trinity Christian Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Tigers are ranked 125th).

Despite the loss, Gramercy Christian still got an impressive performance from Mariah Diaz, who posted four points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Addi Cook was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Gramercy Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 15 consecutive matches.

Leading Trinity Christian to victory were Riley Burnham and Macey Skinner. Burnham dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 boards, while Skinner dropped a double-double with 18 points and 23 rebounds. The game was Burnham's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenna Overton, who scored 11 points.

Gramercy Christian's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Trinity Christian, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 30-5.

Gramercy Christian has already played their next contest, a 35-33 defeat against Christ Covenant on the 22nd. As for Trinity Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-40 victory against New Bern Christian Academy on the 22nd.
