Baseball Game Preview: Vanden Vikings vs. Wood Wildcats

For the second straight game, Vanden will face off against Wood. The Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Vanden needed a bit of extra time to put away Wood. They had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 7-6. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Mariano Gonzalez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kekoa Grinton was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jackson Armstrong, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Vanden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wood only posted a batting average of .148.

This is the second loss in a row for Wood and nudges their season record down to 7-11. As for Vanden, their record is now 6-13.
