Volleyball Recap: Michaela August and Megan Butler Secure Win for Emmanuel Christian

Emmanuel Christian extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Addyson Matthews. Everything went the Crusaders' way against the Sumter Christian Bears on Thursday as they made off with a 3-0 victory for which the team can thank Matthews, who had nine digs and nine aces. She is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Emmanuel Christian was: they took every set by at least 16 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-2, 25-9.

Leading Emmanuel Christian to victory were Megan Butler and Michaela August. Butler had seven aces and three digs, while August had eight digs, six kills, and one block. Those six kills gave August a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Emmanuel Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 30 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Emmanuel Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-1-1.

Looking ahead, Emmanuel Christian will challenge Step of Faith Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Sumter Christian will be paying especially close attention to the Crusaders' game: after the Crusaders face off against Calvary Christian, they'll take on Sumter Christian again at 5:30 p.m. on September 15.
