Football Recap: Magee Extends Winning Streak to Three

Franklin County kept up with Magee until halftime on Friday, but afterwards: not so much. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 46-20 margin over the Bulldogs. The Trojans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Tyler Walker produced another solid performance rushing for 118 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 112 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Travon Magee, who threw for 221 yards and three TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Magee proved: they limited Franklin County to a paltry 1.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Zyrenzo Hayes for the heroic effort on defense: he. Magee didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.1.

Franklin County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlie Herring, who threw for 179 yards and a pair of touchdowns. 80 of those passing yards were hauled in by Armond Adams, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

The victory was the third in a row for Magee, bringing their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.7 points over those games. As for Franklin County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Magee and Franklin County will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Trojans are set to face off against their familiar foe Jefferson Davis County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Franklin County will square off against rival Crystal Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
