Burbank extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-9 in the process. They lost 18-1 to the Johnson Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 31-2 back in March.
As for Johnson, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.5 runs.
For Johnson's part, Anissa Zavala made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Zavala has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, Kayla Madison and DeAhjanuque Salter dominated on the mound. Madison went 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Salter went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Back at the plate, Valicianna Collins-Hogan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Clarissa Aceves-Fonseca was another key player, earning two RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Coming up, Burbank will face off against Florin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 22.92 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Johnson, they will take on Armijo at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Royals will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
