Preview: Apollo Ridge Vikings vs. Leechburg Blue Devils
Apollo Ridge is 2-8 against Leechburg since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Apollo Ridge Vikings will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Leechburg Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. Apollo Ridge comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Wednesday, Apollo Ridge took a serious blow against Carrick, falling 65-29.
Meanwhile, Leechburg had to suffer through a rough 61-29 loss at the hands of McGuffey. While losing is never fun, Leechburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 682nd, while McGuffey is ranked 272nd).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jayden Floyd, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds. He scored a full 27.6% of Leechburg's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rocco Vigna, who scored six points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Apollo Ridge's defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Leechburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
