Hopewell-Loudon has gone a perfect 4-0 against St. Paul recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. Hopewell-Loudon will be playing at home against St. Paul at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
On Saturday, Hopewell-Loudon made easy work of Carey and carried off a 15-8 victory.
Araceli Velasquez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Velasquez was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Sidney Brickner was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Morgan Hoover was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Hopewell-Loudon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, St. Paul got the win against Port Clinton on Saturday by a conclusive 9-1.
Taegan Mansfield-Bush spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
On the hitting side, St. Paul got a massive performance out of Ella Kalizewski, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Kalizewski is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Mansfield-Bush, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
The win got St. Paul back to even at 1-1. As for Hopewell-Loudon, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
Everything went Hopewell-Loudon's way against St. Paul in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Hopewell-Loudon made off with a 16-0 win. Will Hopewell-Loudon repeat their success, or does St. Paul has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
