Basketball Game Preview: Piper Bengals vs. Deerfield Beach Bucks

Piper is 0-7 against Deerfield Beach since December of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Bengals will square off against the Bucks at 6:00 p.m. Piper will be strutting in after a victory while Deerfield Beach will be coming in after a loss.

Piper barely beat Cooper City the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bengals simply couldn't be stopped last Thursday as they easily beat the Cowboys 53-24. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bengals had established a 21-point advantage.

Piper's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janiya Joassin, who posted 20 points. Another player making a difference was Amaya Bethea, who put up 15 points.

Meanwhile, Deerfield Beach was beaten by Stoneman Douglas 78-12 last Thursday.

The victory (which was Piper's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 60.0 points this season. As for Deerfield Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Piper was dealt a bruising 58-14 loss at the hands of Deerfield Beach in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Bengals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
