The Morning Star Academy Mustangs will face off against the Galesburg Christian Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Morning Star Academy has three straight victories, Galesburg Christian has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Morning Star Academy is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing East Moline Christian: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Mustangs blew the Eagles out of the water with a 52-19 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Mustangs had established a 22-point advantage.

Violet Jewell went supernova, dropping a double-double with 27 points and 13 boards. The contest was her third in a row with at least 16 points. Angelina Kobernat was another key player, putting up six points and seven rebounds.
Morning Star Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Galesburg Christian ended up a good deal behind East Moline Christian on Tuesday and lost 42-25.
Morning Star Academy will have to keep a close watch on Payton Dowell and Baylie Mayfield, a pair of players who had a big impact on Galesburg Christian's prior game. Dowell posted six points in addition to 12 boards and six steals, while Mayfield had no points.
Galesburg Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Morning Star Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Morning Star Academy hasn't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 9.7 turnovers per game. It's a different story for Galesburg Christian, though, as they've been averaging 32.3 turnovers. Given Morning Star Academy's sizable advantage in that area, the Lions will need to find a way to close that gap.
Morning Star Academy took their victory against Galesburg Christian in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 46-21 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
