Preview: Galloway Scots vs. Mount Vernon Mustangs
Galloway and Mount Vernon are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Galloway Scots will head out on the road to square off against the Mount Vernon Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Galloway pushed their score all the way to 57 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Walker. Galloway's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Despite their loss, Galloway saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Vaughn Murphy, who scored 13 points along with eight assists and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Grant Patrick, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Mount Vernon unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 61-54 to Greenforest.
Kj Garris put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 31 points along with eight rebounds. Xavier Shegog was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Galloway's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Mount Vernon, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Galloway hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 53.5 points per game. It's a different story for Mount Vernon, though, as they've been averaging only 67.5 points per game. The only thing between Galloway and another offensive beatdown is Mount Vernon. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Galloway lost to Mount Vernon on the road by a decisive 69-55 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Galloway avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
