Basketball Game Preview: Denfeld Hunters vs. Duluth East Greyhounds

Denfeld hasn't had much luck against Duluth East recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Denfeld Hunters are taking a road trip to square off against the Duluth East Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. Denfeld knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Duluth East likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Denfeld got the win against Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] by a conclusive 59-35. Given the Hunters' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Wolverines are ranked 304th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Duluth East came up short against White Bear Lake on Tuesday and fell 56-46. The Greyhounds haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Denfeld is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.8 points over those games. As for Duluth East, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.

Denfeld was able to grind out a solid victory over Duluth East when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 64-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Denfeld since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
