Softball Recap: Penn Wood Takes a Loss

Penn Wood extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-7 in the process. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Interboro Buccaneers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Buccaneers this season, with their most recent loss being a 17-0 defeat two weeks ago.

As for Interboro, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 17-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games.

For Interboro's part, Jules Bergen looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bergen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ava Rudolph was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. Olivia Bulovas was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

Penn Wood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Interboro, they will welcome Springfield at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
