Volleyball Game Preview: Valley Christian Trojans vs. Gilbert Christian Knights

The Valley Christian Trojans will take on the Gilbert Christian Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Valley Christian had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt ALA - Anthem South on Tuesday. The Trojans blew past the Titans 3-0.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Valley Christian was: they took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-6, 25-9, 25-15.

Austin Moskop had a dynamite game, getting ten aces. Those ten aces gave him a new career-high. Ivann Detruz also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Meanwhile, Gilbert Christian entered their tilt with ALA - Ironwood on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 3-0 win.

Valley Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Gilbert Christian, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8.

Valley Christian beat Gilbert Christian 3-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
