Recap: Sandia Prep Sundevils vs. Bosque Bobcats
There's no place like home for the Sandia Prep Sundevils, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-38 win over Bosque on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Sandia Prep also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Sandia Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taylor Calkins led the charge by scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Calkins has scored all season. Emily Cook was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven steals.
Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kiaaaanii Otero, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lena Chavez, who scored 16 points.
Sandia Prep's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Bosque, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing East Mountain the next time they take the court. Bosque will head out to face East Mountain at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Sandia Prep will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
