Basketball Recap: Grulla Comes Up Short

Grulla was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 52-45 loss to the Zapata Hawks. The Gators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Grulla's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Zapata, they pushed their record up to 8-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grulla will welcome Port Isabel at 8:00 p.m. on January 10th. Port Isabel will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Grulla surely won't give up without a fight. As for Zapata, they will challenge King at 8:00 p.m. on January 10th.
