Softball Game Preview: College Station Cougars vs. Montgomery Bears

The College Station Cougars will challenge the Montgomery Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in College Station's favor as the squad sits on nine straight wins at home while Montgomery has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

On Saturday, College Station made easy work of Brenham and carried off an 8-2 victory. Considering the Cougars have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Gracie Ream spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ambar Aguilar was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Ream, who went 4-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Montgomery lost 16-6 to Lake Creek on Friday.

College Station's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-7. As for Montgomery, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.

Everything went College Station's way against Montgomery when the teams last played on March 4th, as College Station made off with a 9-1 victory. Does College Station have another victory up their sleeve, or will Montgomery turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
