Basketball Recap: Metro-East Lutheran Takes a Loss

Metro-East Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Althoff Catholic Crusaders and fell 53-21. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-7.

Despite the loss, Metro-East Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Emily Kober posted four points and eight rebounds. What's more, Kober also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2024.

Amalia Distler was a one-woman wrecking crew for Althoff Catholic as she went 8-for-14 to rack up 20 points along with six boards and six steals. With that strong performance, Distler is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Kamora Davis was another key player, putting up 12 points and six rebounds.

Metro-East Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 2-28. As for Althoff Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-14 record this season.

Metro-East Lutheran has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Christ Our Rock Lutheran on the 13th. As for Althoff Catholic, they will face off against Red Bud at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
