Softball Recap: Broome Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Broome had lost seven games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 6-18 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They won by a run and slipped past the Chapman Panthers 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Centurions have posted since March 19th.

As for Chapman, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-10. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Broome since on Monday.

For Chapman's part, Alexis Floyd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 12 hits. Floyd has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rylan Ivey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Broome will venture away from home to take on South Pointe at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chapman, they will square off against Greer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
